# I'm Drunk

> I'm Drunk is a mobile app that stops drunk texting. You set a lock while you're sober. Until the time you pick, your texts, DMs and FaceTime stay locked, and you can't turn the lock off yourself. Only your buddy, a trusted friend you choose, can end it early. It's made by NextPhase Labs LLC and is coming to iPhone and Android; a beta waitlist is open now at https://getimdrunk.com/.

## How it works

1. **Set it sober.** Before you go out, pick when the lock ends and who your buddy is. Once it starts, you can't turn it off.
2. **Messages stay shut.** During the lock, Messages, Instagram, Snapchat, other DM apps and FaceTime are blocked. Where the send button would be, there's a button that calls your buddy.
3. **The way home stays open.** Uber, Lyft and calls to the people you chose are never locked.
4. **Your buddy holds the only key.** If you want out early, you ask your buddy. They decide.
5. **It lifts on its own.** The lock ends at the time you set.

- Platforms: iPhone (iOS) and Android. Not released yet; join the beta at https://getimdrunk.com/ to get an invite when it opens.
- Price: free to download and use. The lock, buddy unlock, ride buttons and calling your buddy are always free. Optional I'm Drunk Premium adds extras for $3.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once.
- iPhone: blocks texting, DMs and FaceTime. The Phone app stays open because Apple doesn't let any app block it; the app points you to your buddy instead.
- Android: the Phone app is locked too, except calls to your buddy and saved contacts.
- Emergency calls (such as 911) are never blocked on either platform.
- Privacy: the apps keep the lock, buddy and contacts on your phone, with no ads, analytics or tracking. Signing in with an email is optional. For people who join the beta waitlist, the website stores only their email, iPhone or Android, and a short random code for their buddy invite link.

## Questions and answers
