The short version
- The I'm Drunk apps keep your lock, your buddy and your contacts on your phone. We never see them.
- If your buddy links their own I'm Drunk app so they can unlock you from their phone, we store your first name and when your lock ends. Never their name or number.
- We store your email if you join the beta waitlist on this site (with iPhone or Android, a buddy link code and which of our links you came from), or if you choose to sign in to the app.
- If you buy Premium, Apple or Google handle the payment and RevenueCat keeps track of what you bought. We never see your card.
- No ads, no tracking, no cookies. We don't sell or share your information.
This policy explains what information I'm Drunk handles and why. "We", "us" and "our" mean NextPhase Labs LLC, 418 Broadway, STE R, Albany, NY 12207. It covers this website (getimdrunk.com) and the I'm Drunk apps for iPhone and Android.
01This website
The beta waitlist
If you tap "Join the beta" and send the form, we store:
- Your email address, so we can send your beta invite.
- Whether you use iPhone or Android, if you pick one, so we invite you to the right beta.
- When you signed up.
- A short random code for your buddy link (like getimdrunk.com/?buddy=k3x9pz), so you can invite a friend to the beta. If you joined through a friend's link, we also store their code with your signup so we know who invited you. We never ask for your friend's email or phone number; you send the link yourself.
- Which of our links brought you to the site, if it was a tagged one (like the link in our Instagram or TikTok bio). It's a label such as "tiktok", nothing about you, and it tells us which posts bring people in.
We use your email only to send your beta invite and to tell you when the app launches. We don't send newsletters from this list and we never share it. The list is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database in our Cloudflare account, in the United States.
Hosting and security
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any website, Cloudflare receives your IP address and basic request details (such as your browser type) when you visit. We use your IP address for a moment to limit how many signups one connection can send, which keeps bots out of the waitlist. We don't save it with your signup. Cloudflare's own handling of this data is described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Fonts
The site's fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser doesn't contact Google or any other font service.
No cookies or tracking
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, ad or tracking scripts.
02The apps
The I'm Drunk apps have no analytics, ads or crash reporting built in. Everything the lock needs is saved on your phone:
| What | Why | Where it's kept |
|---|---|---|
| Your buddy's name and phone number | So you can call your buddy from the lock screen and send them unlock codes | On your phone only |
| Other contacts you add (name and number) | Call buttons on the lock screen | On your phone only |
| Your lock settings (when it ends, which apps it blocks) | To run the lock | On your phone only |
| Your buddy's unlock codes | To check a code your buddy reads you | On your phone, saved only in scrambled (hashed) form so they can't be read back |
You type contacts in yourself. The app doesn't read your address book, your messages or your call history.
Unlock codes are texted from your phone
When you set up a buddy, the app opens a text to your buddy in your own Messages app (or your share sheet, on a device that can't text) holding their unlock codes. You send it yourself, from your own number, so normal carrier rates may apply. We never see or store that text.
How the lock works on iPhone
On iPhone, I'm Drunk uses Apple's Screen Time tools. You pick the apps to block in Apple's own picker, and Apple gives the app private tokens for them instead of the app names, so I'm Drunk can block those apps without seeing what they are or what you do in them.
How the lock works on Android
- Accessibility service: used only to notice when a blocked app opens during a lock and cover it with the lock screen. It is set up so it can't read what's on your screen.
- Call screening: during a lock, outgoing calls are stopped unless they go to your buddy or your saved contacts. Emergency calls such as 911 are never blocked; Android doesn't send them to the app at all.
- Phone state: lets the app tell when a call is in progress.
- Notifications: show the lock reminder.
- List of installed apps: so you can choose which apps to block. The list stays on your phone.
Unlocking from your buddy's phone (optional)
If your buddy has I'm Drunk too, the text with their codes includes a link that connects their app to yours, so they can end your lock from their phone. Nobody signs in for this. To make it work we store:
- A random ID for each phone, kept only in scrambled (hashed) form. It isn't linked to your name, number or account.
- Your first name, as you typed it, so your buddy's app can show who's locked.
- A one-time link code until your buddy uses it (or for 30 days).
- When your current lock ends, and whether your buddy ended it early.
We never receive your buddy's name or phone number, your contacts, or which apps you block. This is stored in the same Cloudflare D1 database as the waitlist. If you don't link a buddy's app, none of it is created.
Signing in (optional)
You don't need an account to use I'm Drunk. You can sign in with your email to keep Premium when you switch phones, or to claim the Founding 1,000 offer if you joined the waitlist. When you sign in we store:
- Your email address, to send you a one-time sign-in code and to match it with the waitlist.
- A random account number that the app uses to look up your Premium status. It isn't linked to your name or phone number.
- Whether you claimed a Founding 1,000 spot, and when it ends.
Sign-in codes are sent by Cloudflare's email service, kept only in scrambled (hashed) form and expire after 10 minutes. Your account is stored in the same Cloudflare D1 database as the waitlist. Signing in never uploads your lock, buddy or contacts.
Premium purchases
Premium is bought through the App Store or Google Play, so Apple or Google handle your payment details under their own privacy policies; we never see them. The app uses RevenueCat to check what you've bought. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipts, your account number (or a random ID if you haven't signed in), your device type, app version and country, and your IP address when the app contacts it. It doesn't receive your email, your buddy or your contacts.
Backups
On Android, I'm Drunk turns off app backups, so its data stays on the device. On iPhone, app data can be included in your own iCloud or computer backups, which Apple handles under your Apple account.
03Your buddy and contacts
When you add a buddy or another contact, you're giving the app someone else's name and number. Please only add people who've agreed to be your buddy or to get calls from you. Their details stay on your phone, and we never receive them. If your buddy links their app, we only learn that some phone linked to yours, not who it belongs to.
04Sharing and selling
We don't sell, rent or share your personal information, and we don't use it for advertising. The only outside companies involved are the ones named above: Cloudflare (hosting, the database and sign-in emails), RevenueCat (Premium purchases) and Apple or Google (payments). We may disclose information if the law requires it.
05How long we keep it
We keep waitlist emails until the beta has launched and invites have gone out, then for up to 12 months to tell you about the full launch, unless you ask us to delete yours sooner. If you sign in, we keep your account until you ask us to delete it. Buddy links stay until you change buddies, your buddy unlinks, or you ask us to delete them; each lock's end time is replaced by the next one. RevenueCat keeps purchase records as long as needed to honor what you bought and for tax and accounting rules. App data stays on your phone until you delete it or delete the app.
06Your choices and rights
- Leave the waitlist: use the Delete your account page and tick "Also take me off the waitlist", or email legal@usenextphase.com, and we'll delete your email.
- See or correct your data: email us and we'll tell you what we hold (for the waitlist, that's your email, platform, signup date, buddy link codes and the link you came from; for an account, your email, account number and founder status).
- Delete your account: in the app, open Settings and tap Delete account, or use the Delete your account page on this site. Either one deletes your account, your sign-in codes and your purchase record at RevenueCat right away. You can also email legal@usenextphase.com from the address you signed in with. If you have a Founding 1,000 spot and stay on the waitlist, we keep that spot with your waitlist email so it's there if you sign in again. Premium you paid for stays tied to your App Store or Google Play account, and you can get it back with Restore purchases.
- App data: you control it in the app. Deleting the app deletes it. To delete a buddy link and its lock times from our side, change buddies in the app or email us.
Depending on where you live (for example California, the EU or the UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or move your personal information, and to complain to a data protection authority. We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live. We'll answer within 30 days.
07Age
I'm Drunk is meant for adults. The website and apps aren't directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from children. If you think a child has joined the waitlist, email us and we'll delete it.
08Security
We use Cloudflare's security features, limit signups and sign-ins per connection, and keep unlock codes and sign-in codes only in hashed form. No system is perfectly secure, but we keep what we hold to a minimum so there's little to lose.
09Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email, we'll tell waitlist members by email before it takes effect.
